DESCRIPTION
CVC DIF, the infrastructure business of global private markets manager CVC, has completed its acquisition of the Gabriela project. It is a utility-scale hybrid solar-plus-storage facility in Northern Chile, from Grenergy, a Spanish clean energy producer. The transaction was first announced in September 2025 and was structured to complete once the project reached its Commercial Operation Date (COD). Gabriela has now reached that milestone and joins CVC DIF's global portfolio.
The completed facility pairs 272 MW of installed solar capacity with 1,100 MWh of battery storage.
The project is backed by a 15-year, USD-denominated, inflation-indexed power purchase agreement (PPA), which CVC DIF said supports long-term revenue visibility. The company also said Gabriela benefits from Chile's regulatory framework for storage investments, though the release does not specify which regulatory mechanism applies.
CVC DIF Partner and Head of Renewable Energy Caine Bouwmeester said combining large-scale solar generation with battery storage would deliver reliable energy and enhance the flexibility and resilience of the Chilean grid, and that CVC DIF was pleased to have partnered with Grenergy to bring the project to completion.
