Indian clean technology player Emfex Energy has announced a 3 GWh manufacturing plant in Surat, Gujarat, scheduled for production in August 2026. Capitalizing on India's booming energy storage market, the company will leverage an integrated power electronics foundation to manufacture co-located Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and EV charging solutions.

The global energy storage landscape is rapidly expanding into dynamic new markets, with India emerging as a major hub for manufacturing and deployment. Backed by the KP Sanghvi Group, which has more than six decades of industrial experience, and REM Electromach, a power electronics manufacturer with over 16 years of experience, Emfex combines manufacturing capability with engineering expertise. The company is positioning itself in this segment with a portfolio spanning both battery storage and EV charging systems.

Diversified Product Portfolio
The company’s BESS portfolio ranges from compact 16 kWh systems designed for smaller commercial applications to 5 MWh containerized solutions for grid-scale deployments. The systems support applications including solar energy storage, peak demand management, diesel generator replacement, renewable integration and microgrids. Depending on project requirements, Emfex offers both air-cooled and liquid-cooled architectures, using LFP battery chemistry with integrated safety features and energy management capabilities.
Alongside storage, Emfex manufactures AC EV chargers from 3.3 kW to 22 kW for residential, workplace and fleet applications, as well as DC fast chargers from 30 kW to 400 kW, extending to 360 kW-800 kW ultra-fast charging platforms for public charging infrastructure and highway corridors. Since both businesses share a common power electronics platform, the company can provide integrated solutions where energy storage and EV charging operate together within the same project.
By controlling both the power electronics layer and local production capacity, Emfex aims to minimize supply chain vulnerabilities for developers. The upcoming 3 GWh factory will establish a centralized supply hub for turnkey, single-vendor hardware architectures that harmonize grid storage with rapid electrification demands.
