KK Group, a Denmark-based new energy subsidiary of A.P. Moller Group, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CORNEX to expand large-scale battery energy storage deployment across Europe. The partnership includes a 5 GWh framework agreement for BESS projects covering design, supply, commissioning, operation and maintenance, spare parts, and battery recycling.
The agreement was signed on July 8 at CORNEX’s global headquarters. Senior representatives from both companies attended the ceremony, including CORNEX Chairman Dai Deming, President Huang Feng, Vice President Zheng Peng, KK Group Chief Corporate Development Officer Michael Dallala, Vice President of Energy Storage System Michael Ariel Nielsen, and Power & Control Division President Mads Norby.
The partnership creates a full-lifecycle cooperation model for utility-scale battery storage projects. It covers project design, equipment supply, on-site commissioning, O&M support, spare parts supply, battery decommissioning and recycling. The companies said the structure will help build a closed-loop service ecosystem for overseas energy storage projects.
The cooperation follows discussions held during The smarter E Europe exhibition and marks the formal implementation of the partnership framework developed there. CORNEX will contribute its battery cell manufacturing and system integration capabilities, while KK Group will bring expertise in wind power technologies, power control systems, electrical engineering, AC-side integration and European grid compliance.
The combined offering is expected to support renewable energy integration, grid flexibility and peak shaving across European electricity networks. As Europe adds more renewable generation, large-scale battery storage is becoming important for balancing supply and demand and maintaining grid stability.
Through the agreement, CORNEX and KK Group aim to strengthen Europe’s battery storage infrastructure with integrated technology, localized engineering support, commissioning services and lifecycle management. The partnership also supports broader China-Europe cooperation in the new energy sector and Europe’s long-term low-carbon transition.
