Sungrow Supplies BESS equipment to 7.8 GWh project in Saudi Arabia

Sungrow has supplied battery energy storage equipment for Saudi Arabia’s 7.8 GWh grid-scale projects, which have completed grid connection and entered commissioning. Deployed across Najran, Khamis Mushait, and Madaya, the projects are among the world’s largest BESS installations and are expected to deliver about 2.2 billion kWh annually, supporting grid stability and renewable integration.

China-based renewable energy technology supplier, Sungrow, has supplied battery energy storage equipment for Saudi Arabia’s 7.8 GWh projects which has completed grid connection and entered the commissioning phase. Upon completion of system energization, the system is expected to be one of the largest grid-connected battery energy storage installations in operation, based on disclosed capacity. The project represents a large-scale deployment of grid storage within the Middle East.

The battery energy storage project is deployed across Najran, Khamis Mushait, and Madaya in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Sungrow supplied more than 1,500 PowerTitan 2.0 systems, which were manufactured within a 58-day production schedule and delivered to site.

The PowerTitan 2.0 platform is based on an integrated AC-DC block architecture combining power conversion systems, battery containers, medium-voltage transformers, ring main units, and factory testing. Sungrow service team in Saudi Arabia has supported installation and commissioning activities. The system is expected to deliver 2.2 billion kWh of energy each year, enough to supply electricity to around 400,000 households in Saudi Arabia.
